This week, I am reading Alex and Me, a nonfiction book based on a true story, by Irene M. Pepperburg. Alex and Me is a compelling story about how a bird and a human explored animal intelligence, and created a strong bond on the way. From what I have read so far, I would rate this book a five out of five. I enjoy how the plot studies the relationship between a scientist and a parrot. I would recommend this book to any mature reader, being a teen or young adult, who is interested in biology and science.

Intriguing story, not the usual young adult novel!!
DeleteThis week I am reading Love Saves the Day, a realistic fiction book, by Gwen Cooper. One of the multi-narrators, is Prudence the cat (main character), who has just moved to her new home shortly after her primary owner unexpectedly died. Now Prudence has to cope with a whole new life.

Great start Ingrid, however, you need to respond to what you have read. Is it a great read, or is it terrible and should be avoided at all costs? Inject your thoughts and opinions, or make a recommendation.

ReplyDeleteThis week I am rereading a book called Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. It is the third book in her "Hunger Games" trilogy. It is a young adult fiction novel about a girl named Katniss Everdeen who fought for her survival in the games, but now the game is over and her home, District 12 is destroyed. Here in District 13 she has a new life, a new schedule, and new things to overcome. She symbolizes the Mockingjay for the rebels while providing hope and suffering. She also fought her way into the Capitol to end the Rebellion. After that, she killed President Coin, the President of District 13, then went back to living in District 12.

Elena, Great start, can you make a recommendation to your readers if and why they should read this book. This way you will have fulfilled the requirement for a genuine response.
DeleteBest, Mr. Scott
This week (or last week) I reread the thrilling fiction novel "Fang" by James Patterson. It is the 4th book in the Maximum Ride series, and in my opinion, the most emotionally touching and exciting book. "Fang" is mainly based on the story of two teenage companions, Fang and Max, and their mutant bird/human hybrid friends. When an evil organization challenges their existence however, Fang is forced upon the decision to abandon his friends, or create danger for them. This novel is quite the read, and I recommend this book to anyone who would enjoy an exciting, and well-written young adult novel.

Sounds like a great read!
DeleteThis week I reread the fascinating fiction book "Jinx's Magic" by Sage Blackwood. This book is one of the most exciting fantasy book's I've read. This book "Jinx's Magic" is mainly based on Jinx's long search through the desert land Samara where, according to the wizard Simon is the ancient magic to defeat the antagonist Bonemaster and unite Urwald. As in right now Urwald is in great danger. This is a great read for people who enjoy fantasy and magic. I would recommend anyone who likes fantasy book's and history or magic to read this amazing book and is a great young adult novel.

Well done Tony!
DeleteThis week I've been reading a nonfiction/comedy called Dave Barry is NOT Making This Up by, you guessed it, Dave Barry (According to Mr Barry, the book was originally going to be called Rush Limbaugh is NOT Making This Up, but the seemed to be some sort of legal issue). So far, the book has been absolutely hilarious, and none of it seems to be made up! It's very entertaining to listen to Mr Barry's commentary on everything from Elvis fans to snakes in people's toilets (Actually, those two things may be more similar than one would like to think, depending upon your opinion of Elvis fans). Anyway, I would definetly reccomend this book to anyone who enjoys a good laugh and/or toilet snakes.
